The Preparatory Course is an essential initiation towards the first year of MV2 module, with view to help the student integrate linguistic, cultural and scientific gaps. It introduces to the study of Sanskrit, prepares to the teaching in English medium, unveils knowledge domain and cultural premises of Ayurveda, reveals myths about Ayurveda, introduces to the teaching methodology and technology of MedVaidya, and more.
The fundamental knowledge in modern medicine is essential for any health care practitioner. It provides the basic medical knowledge in biology, anatomy, physiology, pathology and epidemiology, as well as in clinical examination, pharmacology, emergency measures and therapeutic concepts. It prepares to work efficiently in the context of integrative medicine in collaboration with other actors of contemporary health systems.
This is the module dedicated to Ayurveda medicine. It covers the historical and philosophical foundations of Ayurveda, its fundamentals in terms of anatomy and physiology, furthermore pathophysiology, pathology and diagnoses. It leads to therapeutic concepts in preventive medicine as well as in general and specialized curative medicine, including manual treatment techniques and applied pharmacology. Sanskrit and Yoga are an integral part of the module.
Dedicated to Health & Ethics, this module prepares to manage particular challenges of the profession, to commit to public health, to respect limits of competences and promote a positive public image of the profession. Topics studied are health models, concepts of health promotion, mental hygiene, resource management, personal work-life balance, concepts of prevention in the field of health and principles of professional ethics.
“Work as a practitioner” is the art that allows to transform medical knowledge and skills into therapeutic success, through a harmonious therapeutic environment and continuous personal development. It allows effective and responsible networking within the professional field and timely adequate decisions for the sake of the patient. Communication, therapeutic relationship, principles of collaboration, professional development are some of the topics of the module.
As an Ayurveda practitioner one has the option of working in one’s own clinic. Therefore, the proper management of a clinic is essential. This module provides an introduction and essential insights about the principles of leading and managing a business in the legal framework of the profession. It introduces health legislation, patient law, insurance, financial reporting, business economics, legal order and contracts. It includes a practical work in the form of a mini-business plan.
The practical training in a clinical internship is the culminating point of the MedVaidya program, where the knowledge and skills of all previous modules converge to a logic synthesis. Regular interactions with teachers, doctors and patients – during in- and out-patient consultations and follow-ups under the direct supervision of a mentor – allow the practical observation and application of the learnt. Manual treatments and preparation of individual formulations are part of the practice.
